Apple has started rolling out iOS 16 Beta for iPhone users, this update will enable 5G connectivity on compatible devices for Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea (VI) users. Finally, iPhone users in India will be able to enjoy 5G on their devices. However, this is not a public release, it is still in beta, if everything gets sorted on time, we can expect the public release in December. To update to this beta, users will have to enroll in the beta program and then install a beta profile on their device, only after that they will be able to upgrade to this beta software.
Jio users will get invited to the Jio Welcome Offer if they have iPhone 12 and above, but only if they are in a city where Jio has rolled out JioTrue5G. This welcome offer will provide users with unlimited access to 5G data at speeds up to 1 Gbps, at no additional cost. All the Postpaid users can take advantage of this offer as they are eligible for this offer, but for the Prepaid users, there is a condition, they need to be on an active plan of Rs. 239 or above. As of now, Jio 5G is only available in Mumbai, Delhi, Varanasi, and Kolkata.
On the other hand, there aren't any special 5G offers from Airtel for their customers. Users will be able to try out and use 5G from their existing plan if they are in a 5G-supported city. Currently, Airtel has launched 5G in eight different cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Siliguri, Nagpur, and Varanasi. Users will be able to use 5G in these cities once they have updated to the iOS 16 beta.
Jio and Airtel customers having iPhone 14, iPhone 13, iPhone 12, and iPhone SE (2022) can now finally use 5G by updating to this beta update. Apple's Beta Software Program is open for all iPhone users having a valid Apple ID. If a user does not have Apple ID or iCloud account, they need to create one before they can apply for it.
