The ability to install apps on Chromecast has been available for quite a while on the web version of Google Play, but now Google is finally pushing out updates for the smartphone users. As of now it is a server side update and not all the users can experience it. Still there have been several users sharing their experiences of being able to install apps on their Android TV's right from their phone as it is slowly being released.
For instance here's the screenshot shared by a reddit user (avigi) showing the ability to install MX Player both on his phone and Xiaomi MIBOX4. For this feature to work, we must be logged in with same google account on both our smartphone and TV and then we will get the options to choose whether we want to install the app only on our phone or TV or both the devices. Ofcourse it is upto us and we can choose either of these options, if any app is already installed on all our devices then it will be marked as "Installed on all devices."
Conclusion :-
As mentioned earlier this is a server side update and not everyone has received it, hence there are very less details available about it also i haven't been able to try it out myself, so as Google slowly rolls it out hopefully more and more user's will be able to experiene it.
